  1. Feeling good...almost have enough to fill my kiln-main purpose is to bisque mold forms for smalls-and wow, I love my slab roller!

      Joseph Fireborn

Aye, glad your back! Are we going to see more of that awesome glaze you created?

  2. Finally got the table top slab roller assembled; now I have to tackle all those compressor fittings and learn to use it, and the guns. Slow going, but better than not being in motion at all!

Yay! Keep chipping away, it'll be done before you know it. So much more efficient!

All things are possible with patience and tenacity.

      Good luck.

  3. Gave my daughter the Starfish tray (in my gallery/smalls) for her birthday and she loved it - she's persnickety and likes "pretty", which is not my style at all, usually. So "mom did good" :)

Guess I wasn't the only one who liked the starfish tray! Make more..:)

  4. Getting back into the swing of things, finally! Did a bunch of small treat trays, using my new slab roller-felt good to do "something--anything" LOL.

oooh fun! I got myself a very basic slab roller too recently. Treat trays sound nice!

  5. Getting ready for my next fire, around mid-month. So far, I have managed not to break any greenware except one pendant. I got every piece finished and glazed, and I completed glazing “No Secretsâ€- a porcelain piece in the Hidden Mask Series. I have addressed it with color and thoroughly enjoyed planning and placing the palette.

Congratulations, isn't is a great feeling. My husband just rewired my big Skutt, first firing came out nearly perfect.

Go to http://www.leeuceramics.com/blog and there is a large pic of the greenware of "No Secrets" and pics of the other 3 in the series.

  6. Getting ready to test some underglazes in a cone 05 fire; the completed studio reorg is downright inspiring-I can find everything and have more working space!

  7. Happily adding underglazes to pieces I am going to refire in my next bisque load.

  8. Happy with my last fire-enough testing, now I can get on with refining my vision. I'm looking to do some semi-commercial functional sculptures (my term...table pieces, basically, that either do or do not serve a specific purpose.

  9. Happy with my recent fire; just put a few pendants in my gallery-more to come.

  10. Happy with recent firing-highlights for me that I want to repeat/expand were making a rattle, matching spoons to trays, and finding a lighter palette that I like a lot. Also, the pics of my pieces are getting done!

  12. I am putting my Bailey table top slab roller together and have to rearrange my studio to accommodate it, which is energizing me out of the tail end of a slump I have been plagued with. Clay is good for the health!

  13. I made an album in my gallery with the logo/avatar-proper size-the only photo in it...now how do I get it from there onto the profile? I know nothing about linking to a url..how?

  14. I may get to put some smalls in the Discover Portsmouth gift shop during the summer exhibition (have 2 pieces in the show-both from the Hidden Mask Series-wall portraits). I'm going to submit a couple of catch-alls, some tea light holders, and business card holders. Pics in my gallery.

I had an URL once, but the meds the doc gave me cured it.

  17. I tweaked my web site a bit more-a lot of of work, need descriptions, a shopping cart, and much more stuff. Probably shouldn't have published it yet, but oh well!

I liked the contrast between the background and the lettering.

  18. I've been largely offline due to two surgeries and recovery time I think the whole world should know that it took me the equivalent of over 3 days to cull through -- judiciously picking and choosing only some things to check on -- CAD forums, Facebook, and LinkedIn! I empathize w/Evelyn..my studio is essentially shut down for now-just can't do it yet.

PT can do amazing things. I used to not be able to put my arms above my shoulders. Now I can put my son on my shoulders. It's worth taking the time to do it right. Best to you.

Just worry about healing and recuperating and taking care of yourself. The pottery will still be there when you are able to give it attention.

Well that's no fun. I hope you will spinning your wheel again soon.

  19. Just did a reorg of my studio space, with the help of some hired muscle. Same amount of stuff, but now a good bit more of working space and room for me to move around better. Yee haw!

I went through your gallery and was intrigued by your use of form and detail. A unique blending that creates subtle expressions. I was impressed by the thought process behind them.

Thank you!! I am not good at throwing beautiful pots or making

really pretty, precise forms/glaze, but I love the rough and tumble.

There they are. Ohhh ahhh. Very nice work.

Your glossy surfaces look great! Beautiful outsides with the natural clay. I am a big fan of that.

  22. Love this part where there's only a hundred degrees or so until I can lift the lid on the kiln!

  23. Made a step toward the second Community Challenge...it is good for me to have a focus, something I had been finding fuzzy lately.

  24. Made my cottle boards, and instead of watching Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, made my damp box. Yee haw!

I have three I use for handles and spriggs. What else can I do with them? Mine are, like 12x14x3.5. What do you use the taller ones for?

    3. GiselleNo5

      GiselleNo5

I have several plain totes ranging from 4"-9" tall. The day after throwing if I can't trim right away I put them in there with a lid. Keeps them workable for 1-2 weeks.

I was luck to have gotten some drying cabinets from a pottery business that closed. I knew the people, so the just gave them to me.

They are aprox. 20x34 and about 6 foot tall. I wrapped them with plastic on 3 sides and a thick clear plastic for the door that I can hand roll up. I can adjust the shelves to fit the pottery.

Although they were already built when I got them, I can honestly say they are not hard to make. And much more inexpensive than the wire ones ceramic suppliers s...

  25. Mixed bag on the bisque--molds came out well, but stuff with underglazes, not so much. Getting ready to full fire--no pics until/unless I see something worth showing LOL

What do you think happened with the underglazes?

      LeeU

Apparently nothing wrong--just looked dull and half-baked at 05, which I guess they were......at 6 they came out just fine!
