Thanks John! Good advice ... HA!

I had forgotten how arrogant a Gallery could be ... Sadly, from what I see on their website, their shelves are full.

  4. I just got back from 3 days/2 nights of free studio time from the Mendocino Art Center (CA). I've sold in their gallery and taken many workshops there and they heard about the loss of my house/studio, so they offered me this wonderful gift. It was the first time since the fire that I've worked with clay and it felt fabulous!! Someone was firing a ^6 kiln and was able to fit a few of my shards in, and they refired beautifully, so I'll refire a lot of my other shards so I...

You are SO TALENTED so you need to take care of YOU!! If you want the longest career possible you have got to take care of the equipment! You are hurting too many parts of your body.

  6. Studio Tour is tomorrow and I wasn't even nervous till about an hour ago, when suddenly "Who am I kidding?" popped into my head. All I can see is the mistakes and the simple beginner's shapes and I just want to call the whole thing off!!

Even though it is once in a lifetime for you, your surgeon does this every day! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

  8. I finally got around to making an underglaze key today! Shoulda made one ages ago, honestly. With my shiny clear, what you see is NOT what you get! :)

As long as you know what gonna happen, you can control outcome. Just don't trust it with green! :-)

Gerstley is the worst culprit in my opinion. It does all of the above to color and also causes bleeding of colors. Find a zinc free recipe and your colors will get better immediately.

Zinc Free clear works best for color ... most of the others cause changes especially turning greens to brown and burning out pinks and violet.

  11. My house/studio was burned to the ground in the Valley Fire that started very close to my home. Our street was the first to go and my area is totally destroyed. 75% of the homes in my little town are gone. I had over 300 pots ready for fairs and of course, all the pottery we use daily. I’m devastated. I’m hoping I’ll be able to recover some pots that didn’t break/melt, and maybe my kilns? Wheel? The evacuation order hasn’t been lifted yet. With the shards I’ll make a big mosaic wall when we...

  18. Yay, I went to my first craft market today. My wife and I had a great time. There was only about 15 vendors, but I was the only potter. I sold almost everything and even got some commissions. I want to thank you all, for your kindness, acceptance and support. Along with all your great advice I was able to feel confident that I could do this. It wasn't about the money, but it was ok, but just knowing that I have friendships that care about me, makes me a millionair. I couldn't have don...

Congratulations! I have been able to keep my carpal pain low by switching what I am doing often ... As long as I don't do the same motion over and over it seems to stay away.

  22. It's been wet, hot and humid here lately. And very little wind to cool down with. I got my fan and an exhaust ceiling fan going and it still get around 90 degrees. But I plan to make some more mugs and fire a small load starting tomorrow evening. When it is cooler. How's your weather?

Hmmm ... My kilns are looking smaller as my stream of consciousness project gets wildly bigger and bigger ... Cannot fire as we are currently in a heat wave. And now may have to re load these kilns to fit it all in.

  24. Posted some Gallery pics from my recent single fire-I am sold on that method, at least for some things!
