Which Wheel For My Student?

Recommended Posts

5’2†and i have a brent c tho i was fine on a really old soldner wheel and old creative industry hp in college. Actually i loved that CI hp, i had hoped to find a used one when i got out of college but the used brent came along for such a bargain i could not pass it up.

I'm 5'9, and throw on a Brent CXC. Last week I thought I was 5'11 for some reason. I think I was comparing my height to my sons height..

Sadly, not to be.

What about an adjustable seat?

TJR, how would the seat get her closer to the center of the wheel head?

I've been measuring what is around here, the Brent is 2" shorter distance than the TS I have, one reason I struggle with it for smaller amounts of clay.  I'm not short at 5'6', but have short arms.

I'm trying to get something non-electric together for my 6 year old who is too small for the kickwheel that I have. Talking with a machine shop we came up with an idea of a hand powered wheel with a very thick head to create enough momentum for him to spin. So instead of going wider with the wheel head we would go deeper. It would be something that you could sit with kneel beside or put on a sturdy table. But then again I'm the kind that likes to re-invent the wheel - oh man the puns the puns!!!
