  1. I swear, I have a half track mind. Saw an ad for a local poetry slam, and read pottery slam. My first thought was "that could be an entertaining fundraiser."

  2. trying out my rebuilt little Paragon kiln to cone 6 today. I usually just use it to bisque but the electrician said it can go to 6 but the elements won't last as long. I wonder what that means exactly....

  3. trying a quick dry method- involves trimmed mugs, 2 fans and outdoors in warm & unusually humid air for our area.

  5. Packing up for first camping trip of the summer, yay!

  6. I am finishing chapter 3 on my clay formulation book. Each chapter is running about 4000 words each. I think it will take almost 9-10 chapters to throughly explain the clay codes. Wonder how many could sit through that many chapters on clay?

  7. So happy & relieved - my home-mined glaze is good to go. Lab results were good!

  8. Fired my first bisque in Red Lodge last night. After several different delays due to online missing attachments on both sides, myself and the electric company, I finally have power to the kilns, Just in time to prepare for next week's wood firing with the Red Lodge clay Center.

  9. The last 2 weeks I've clocked 100+ hours/week in the studio in preparation for a craft show. My body absolutely hates me and my brain is fried. But I went through many audible books and finished Neil Tyson's Cosmo series. It better rain money soon.

  10. Winter has returned! Farewell spring!

  11. Ordered 50lbs of commercial grade-refined hectorite today. This is calcium based in lieu of sodium based. According to specs it should be similar to V-gum T: this should be interesting.

  12. Stopped at a lighting store yesterday and picked up a variety of pendant light shades. Mold time for highly translucent crystalline glazed shades.

  13. Just read the most directly applicable journal of clay platelet charges in relation to surface area: filled in the remaining blanks I had. I am a happy man.

  16. I mixed clay today! Picked up dry clays about 11, did errands, and started mixing about 1 pm while the sun was warm . Cold front is coming in tonight. Beat it! So happy. Mixed about 270 pounds wet. That should be a good start. This batch is for making new saggers. I didn't bring many with me. My birthday is Wed. so I can celebrate by doing some throwing. Kilns will be getting wired in Mid- February.

  25. Made a run to the big city today to stock up for a week on more snow. Matt flies back to Brownsville, Tx for Spring semester. Gee, I wonder if he'll be able to get to the airport after all this snow.
