The glaze is a silky white over pale blue slip, which breaks through the glaze to give soft delicate shades. The exterior was sprayed lightly with a blue ash glaze, which has gone transparent over the base glaze and run down to the foot in places. The interior is speckled with a blue reminiscent of a robin's egg.

This is a special pie plate made with two tones of casting slip. I then decorated it with leaves and swirling vines in slip and sgraffito carving on the inside.

using 3 identical forms would seem to mean everything is identical. not so. placement of the leaves is the design challenge and cutting the edges is the technical part. keeping the bottom flat and trimming are also important.

This yunomi was dipped in both green and blue slips and then quickly combed to expose both. It may be excessively bright, but I like it because it's lively. Same white satin glaze.

Another view of my wildflower batter bowl, with several of my tiny wildflower teaspoon rests. I have a whole bouquet of them to put in my Etsy shop!

I don't even want to talk about how long this took to make ... more a work of art than a production piece. But I enjoyed making it so much and this is the first piece I've ever made that came out even better than I imagined. I love everything about it (this never happens to me).

I used white slip on the inside of the bowl and white engobe on the flowers so the colors would show true. It worked very well, but some of the little speckles showed through anyway, which I found completely charming.

four foot long shelves supported on adjustable wire framework allows wind to pass through the display without knocking it down. can never trust the weather. this shelf support system has been through many high winds with no ill effects. neighboring displays have crashed to the ground because they resist the wind. tall pots on flimsy stands will go over, but not the entire 2 foot by 4 foot unit. shelves are 12, 16 and 20 inches wide by 4 feet. cut from half a 3/4 inch sheet of birch plywood. they will be painted white this year. i have 4 of these, giving me 48 linear feet of shelving from 12 to 20 inches wide. lots of space. wish it were higher.
