Finally home after too much traveling. My online class begins on Monday. Now to fulfill some orders and begins downsizing. I'll be liquidating my library and downsizing studio. Potters Attic sales.

last trip was to 50th HS reunion, family reunion, last sorting of my deceased mother's things including 5 huge boxes of photos , mostly from her family from W.Va. taken from the mid-1800s to 1930s. Included some tin types.I hope to use the images in some art or image transfers. They are beautiful photos.

finally home but with a very sore throat. Great trip: NCECA, family, and friends. My box of goodies fro NCECA s waiting for me.

finished my little raku kiln to take on a road trip up to Kansas and beyond. Posted a picture in my gallery.

finished two raku kilns yesterday but not the flashing idea. These are oil drum kilns with 1/3 cut off. Also added a burner holder. One is a replacement for my smaller raku kiln and the other is for a friend. the flashing ended up around the grapefruit trees for protection against rates. It seems to be working.

I can take one to my workshop on South Padre Island on Feb 13th.

Fired bisque with slabs and tiles for raku. I need to fire before going back to Montana. Hope it will get cooler. Lows overnight are still in the 80s. May be doing night raku firings.

Fired my last obvara firing before the Oct. Minneapolis conference. Now I really have to get ready to fly to London on SUnday.

fired my new raku kiln today for Obvara. whew, took it slow to 1650 and then started pulling the pieces. I usually have help for the lid on and off. Fired 13 pieces tumble stacked. I am beat. Dripping in this heat. drinking lots of water.

Monterrey, MX is 200 miles from my house in Brownsville Tx. I think it is more likely the chemicals from factories in Matamoros.

I think what JT said is right: you have a highly acid environment. Sulfur/ salt, and God knows what else. Time to move.

Fired raku this morning. Done by 10. deliver at 12.

firing another foil saggar firing after the test results were so cool! Hope to bring a few to NCECA. Doing a last load of wash before packing.
