Home alone again. Husband returned to Va. to work. He was telecommuting for 2 of the three weeks he was here. He did manage to do some jam sessions at the Snowcreek saloon. Mother-in-law spent a week over Christmas with us. I am now back to the studio. I did some reorganizing of layout to improve heat flow. its nice in there when the temperature i up to high 30s. Around -10 the studio temperature went down to 55. I have a kerosene backup if I need it.
Happy to be in the studio again.

My husband left for a convention in Galveston so I will be alone for several days. I spent at least 8 hours in my studio yesterday, it would have been more but I slept in late. It took me half a day to get my studio warmed up when it got down to -3. This part of Kansas usually doesn't get extreme cold, suppose to get up to 60 by Wednesday. Denice

Marcia, How do you feel your radiant wall heaters are working for you? Curious, since my area and weather are similar to yours.

I have 5 running. I have cleared away some dense shelving to enhance their convection action. It seems to be working fine. But when the temperature went down to minus 7 before I rearranged, it was 55. I do have a back up kerosene heater if I need to get toasty, but I haven't needed it yet. My space is 580 sq ft. I insulated the garage doors. and caulked around the foundation to cut down on drafts. That also helped. My nephew got some thermal curtains at Bed Bath and Beyond for $20 for windows in the kids room. I may consider that. The heating costs I think were about $40-50. My heaters don't have thermostats. They are just constant. I'll turn some off is it is warm.
My first home n Montana was about a mile from a town of 300. I think I was one of the 300. Lived there for 14 years. Commuted to work 14 miles.
