Hi there.. I am new on here and to the world of pottery and am getting my first potters wheel tomorrow. I am very excited but a little worried about collecting it in my partner's estate car.  I don't know how much it weighs and wonder if anyone knows approximately?

I don't know what the model is, but it is made by J.W. Ratcliffe & sons.

Thanks in advance...

Hi there, I also have a Ratcliffe wheel, mine was gifted to me by a friend who used to be a potter back in the day. Mine is in need of repair, some electrical problem. I'm not sure if they are still in business, was searching when I came across your post.

Mine was made in the early 1980s.

Hi Simon,

If the wheel runs in one direction only, the head could be threaded in the opposite direction (use tightens).

Are "Ratcliffe" and "Wenger" associated?

Try contacting Potterycrafts? They carry a few wheels that look (kinda) like a Wenger - Cowley, Alsager, Staffordshire...

Excerpted from https://www.potterycrafts.co.uk

"Potterycrafts was formed in 1983 with the merger of the craft supplies businesses of three industrial companies Podmore, Wenger and Harrison Mayer following their purchase by Cookson plc. Potterycrafts became an independent company in 1988..."

Hi Folks,

I recently inherited an old Podmore Wheel. It is in great condition but the wheel head is worn in the middle from 30 plus years of use! I need to replace the wheel head and hope that is something you could help with? Attached is a photo of the make and model .
