Brand new dual input pyrometer not working

My old, old kilns pyrometer broke so I was told the dual input pyrometer and thermometer would still work in my kiln. I went to try it out and do a test firing but when I click it on it says lo on the screen. I changed the battery when it came in last week because the battery was dead. Any help is greatly appreciated.

@MIsty Can you post a picture of it? What brand is it?

Is it in a very cold environment, like a garage? It could be that the  pyrometer is not able to read below a certain temp. Also check that the two wires are connected to the correct ends of the thermocouple, red wire to the red end.

no it is in my closet across from my classroom. I can't find anything online about what the lo means but that is the only thing that is on the screen.

It's saying the temperature is too low to read. I would try swapping around the wires if you wired the thermocouple plug, or maybe it's a loose connection.

The specs on it say it will go to very low negative temps (-200 f or lower) so it’s likely the yellow and red are switched at the probe. The plug is polarized so most likely backwards at the thermocouple, small possibility someone wired the jack backwards

@Bill Kielb that was it! Thank you. I haven't had to change one in years so I thought I was doing the installation wrong. Nope it came hooked up wrong. Thanks again!
