Katie Piro
I was rushing to fire a whole host of glaze samples I'd completed and accidentally glaze fired to cone 6 without any of the peep plugs in. I have a Skutt 1027 with a downdraft kiln vent that was running. It's currently at 700 degrees so I can't peek yet. I fire to Cone 6, usually with all the peep plugs in. The glazes are a variety of homemade cone 6 glazes. Nothing commercial. No reds. They're mostly coppers, cobalts, some lithium and strontium. Will the glaze samples be accurate? Will they come out at all? Thanks! What a lesson learned in rushing. Doh! Katie

Katie You have learned a lesson here, Katie, but it is good...Your questions will be answered when you open the kiln and removed your pieces. As you look at the outcome of this firing, remember what you did to get the results that you get so that if you want to reproduce something that turned out well, you can reproduce it in the future! neilestrick
If it got to temp then it'll probably be fine. Worst case there will be some cold spots or hot spots, but likely no problem.
shawnhar
I did the same thing once in my Skutt 1018 and the cone 6 glaze turned out fine, firing time was a bit longer due to some heat loss so it took longer to reach temp, but otherwise no issues.
