Shay
Hi This may be a silly question but I’d love to get some advice from the wise My previous kiln set my studio on fire and burned the whole thing down (dodgy electrician). I Still have the old kiln shelves that were in the fire. There are areas they are blackened and burned but they seem solid. Can I still use them? Or is it best to buy new ones ? many thanks from a novice and aspiring potter. Shay
Bill Kielb
If you fire them they should clean up nicely. Make sure they have dried thoroughly if they got wet or fire slowly if unsure. Bisque firing should clean them up. Very sorry to hear about your electrical issue.
Pres
@Bill Kielb, **for, cleaning up nicely and making certain they are dry before firing. .. . when in doubt, always fire slowly! best, Pres
neilestrick
Hi @Shay, so sorry to hear of your loss. If the shelves haven't cracked or warped they should be good to go once you've fired off al the black stuff. For the education of our readers would you be willing to share the details of what happened with the fire?
