ronfire
I saw an article about a magnetic grip system so I decided to build one. The base is an old saw blade with the teeth ground down a bit and glued on with hot glue on the teeth to help shield them. A sheet metal disk would be better but I had the blade. The blocks have 4 earth magnets glued in with epoxy glue and hold well. They can be turned and use the notch to hold a lid off the wheel a small amount. The nice thing is I can build blocks any shape to accommodate thrown items.
Rae Reich
Bravo! The only thing it doesn't do is automatically center! On the other hand, a Giffen doesn't accommodate as well to asymmetrical pots. Can you show how the magnets are inserted/attached on the wood blocks? What is your source for the foam padding? Bravo again!!

ronfire
I basically followed the idea from the link above that min posted. The blocks have blind holes drilled into them and then epoxied in. The foam is some weatherstripping that was laying around.
