seancisse
I brought back from South Africa a full buckett of laterite (sand full of iron oxyde). I was wondering: if I mix the laterite with clay (what proportion?) when I'll fire it, does the iron will react and give "interesting" results like speckles or something else? Babs
Hmm Maybe customs or biosecurity may want to speak with you!! Testing is the way to go in establishing results from additions like this.
bciskepottery
I believe laterite is sold in aquarium shops for use in fresh water aquariums.
jrgpots
It is listed in digitalfire, so you could ask someone to use their glaze making software to incorporate your literite in a glaze. I think when added to clay, the clay turns red. I'm sure one of the experts will correct me on this, though. Jed
