This is proof positive that I am a potter because this is surely a pot.

Pyewackette reacted to oldlady for a gallery image, florida leaf pots, bowls 028.JPG
small pieces of sponge holds up the rippling edge of this shallow bowl. found that the slip with red iron oxide had dried up so i did not brush color onto this one. gotta make more colored slip!

this was about 5 shelves off the bottom. two long trays plus the ones in foreground. blue looks intense now, when i cover it with a green glaze to highlight the leaves, it should soften in intensity.

this one is on a pizza stone which is about 16 inches in diameter. there is another platter under it using only an inch and a half of space. the taller stacks of small stuff fit around the trays. will glaze in green and put purple on the dragonfly.

well, i loved the idea of this bowl, tried to do it last year but did not have room in the kiln for it. so it sat around since january of 2017 waiting. do you see the crack in the rim? do not do this. i think that as i put it into the bottom of the kiln, i used only one hand, stressing the rim. i know better but it was in an awkward place so i think that is what happened. do not do this. blue slip with brush strokes that show, green stroke and coat, red stroke and coat and yellow bug in stroke and coat. sad....................

Pyewackette reacted to oldlady for a gallery image, lifting the leaf once the slip has dried ovenight. these are easy because i can get a needle under the center and lift all the adjoining leaves at once. peeling them off individually is more difficult and tends to scratch the clay surface too much.
