JLowes
Hi Val, Check for power to the fan first. If the circuit breaker has tripped, or the cord has become loose at the receptacle, it may just look like a failure, but be easily corrected. Assuming that the motor failed, get all the motor data from the nameplate and seek out a shop that supplies electric motors in your area. You may have a motor rebuilding shop in your area that may be able to replace brushes, rewind the motor, or replace bearings, and getting it working again. That can be the least cost solution. neilestrick
Which brand/model of vent? Downdraft vent or room vent?
Dale pots
Check to see if you have a reset button on the motor, or a birds nest. HaHa

JLowes
If worse comes to worst: http://kilnparts.com/index.php/skutt-envirovent-replacement-motor-and-cord.html Currently $175.75 at kilnparts.com I did notice in the picture at the link that the cord has a switch. It could be the problem and checking it Of course you may not have the Skutt Envirovent. John
JLowes
For kicks, I Googled Fasco Model A073 and got a bunch of hits. https://www.google.com/search?q=FASCO+model+A073&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=rcs It looks like you can add appliance and HVAC suppliers to the search list, or chance EBay. Look at this Ebay ad and see if your motor data matches up: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/361055470621?lpid=82 John
oldlady
use a mirror to see under the kiln.
neilestrick
I'd replace the whole thing with a newer model like the Envirovent II or L&L Vent-Sure that has the vent motor mounted away from the kiln. It will last longer and allow you to hook up more than one kiln to it if you expand in the future.
