Melchema
Can anyone tell me what happens when someone puts craft glitter on top of the under glaze and then over glazes and fires it?
JohnnyK
Hi and welcome to the Forum, Since the glitter is usually made of polyester, it will probably burn off early in the firing and leave bubbles or pinholes in the glaze. The best way to find out would be to make a variety of test tiles with all the variations that you thing you might want to use and see what happens. Melchema
Thank you, I just wanted to make sure the glitter wouldn’t damage the kiln.
liambesaw
If it's low fire, people have used mica glitter for some pretty cool effects.
Gabby
You could achieve a glitter effect with crushed glass. That melts and doesn't burn off.
oldlady
just wondering what you hope to accomplish? can you say what you are picturing as the final product?
Melchema
Oh sorry no, I didn’t put the glitter on it. I work at a paint your own pottery studio and a child put it on there and my coworker didn’t realize until after they left.
