nancylee
I dont really like the mold way. I'm looking to make small spoons, like coffee scoops. Any ideas greatly appreciated ! Nancy
Min
I came across a site where a person pulls the handles. I haven't tried it yet, looks promising. I also think the handles would be stronger this way rather than press moulded. http://www.lovesown.com/2016/01/pulling-spoons.html?m=

LeeU
For my spoons I do not use molds...I roll my clay into a coil piece and shape or carve from there. For small scoop-type, I just leave a bulb at the end to have a bit more to work with.
Pugaboo
I extrude the handles then roll out a small disc and attach. I shape the bowl of the spoon to suit the purpose intended sometimes deeper sometimes shallower. Very easy and quick to do. T

Pugaboo
Yes the disc makes the bowl of the spoon. I roll the clay, cut a circle, press my thumb in the center to make it as deep or shallow as I want. Score and attach one side to the extruded handle. Babs
Totally glazed, hung to fire?
Pugaboo
Yep totally glazed and hung to fire. The hole sometimes gets a little sharp from the glaze and hanging but I have a special dremel bit that fits in the hole and easily smooths out and sharp bits. I should also state I made my own bead racks so was able to make them to my specifications. T
Callie Beller Diesel
Sarah Pike made a few like this last Christmas. I thought they were very coffee scoop-like when I saw them in person. It's a hand built straight sided bowl with a handle that I think holds a couple of tablespoons. They're quite delightful.
