Mark C.
Well after many weeks of heavy production and many kilns loads and some heavy DMHO exposure I find myself waiting for a kiln to cool. I took a 3/4 day off to refresh and to fill my glass which was 1/3 full. Nothing works like a 6 mile hike in 1000 year old redwood forest . We packed in our fishing gear-you know waders-wading boots and fishing vests-and a 9 foot steel head rod. After about a mile and 1/2 we left all other people behind and had the rest few miles all to ourselves . This was my 3rd trip up this creek in Redwood National park in past month. We are fishing for Wild steelhead which is a catch and release fishery. On the previous two trips nobody had a strike or bump but the fishing was about as good as it gets-great water conditions and fishing in ancient redwoods (not ancient jasper) is an experience that no matter how much DMHO you have in your system its all gone at the end of the day. This trip we all hooked a fish which made the experience over the top. So next time you have a hot kiln and find yourself waiting and your DHMO limit is exceeded get out in the woods and smell the roses.
Denice
The closest I come to fish is the steel head I buy at the grocery store. Of course Kansas is not exactly know for its lakes and rivers being a prairie. To take a break I go out and play soccer with my dog or do some yard work. Your fish looked like a keeper. Loaded the kiln today, firing tomorrow. Denice
Babs
Mark, I couldn't agree more, but why spoil an experience like this by lugging all that gear??? Partner a fisher so this conversation has been aired before... and gear is light weight nowadays. Idyllic, Clear morning air is so replenishing. Nothing like " Fishing in America" Richard Brautigan ? glazenerd
Mark: Would love to smell the roses, but sadly my over-exposure to DMHO has fried my nasal passages. By the way, hallucinations are also a side effect of DMHO exposure: are you really sure you went fishing? Timothy Leary is not dead,he fried himself on DMHO.
