CLN studios
Ok please stay with me because this question is a bit odd (very odd around this forum ) Im doing a sculpture that is .... a placenta/after birth. I plan on making this out of translucent porcelain to get the transparent part of placenta but im missing an important factor. the illusion of slime, i was wondering if anyone had tips on reproducing a slime texture/feel. I was thinking a glaze would be the way to go but it is more glassy then slimey. These are my reference/inspiration pics to give yall an idea of what im going for
Marcia Selsor
I can only think of slumped glass. Marcia
Mug
If the surface is super smooth you can get a slime like surface with a glaze Probably mixed media Could be FX silicon, or a clear casting resin
Colby Charpentier
Some binders commonly used in glazes would work. CMC gum mixed with a small amount of water is an option. You'd end up with an actual slime, maybe a bit more than an illusion...
perkolator
my guess is you'll have to use a non-ceramics medium post-firing. something like clear epoxy resin, silicone, latex, etc etc, even kids play slime all come to mind.
