CP93
Hi all, been finding I'm having some difficulties when it comes to fluxes and running, but still getting good colours so it's not the glaze so much as the furniture! As you can see my prop is welded on there! My forms tend to have very small bases, only a couple of centimeters. I was wondering if you had any advice on working around this. Min
Hi and welcome to the forum. Is this lowfire clay? looks like the base is unglazed pink clay? As far as the excess glaze running there are a few things you could try. Design change, make a groove in the clay to catch the glaze near the bottom of the pots and / or a deeper foot. Apply less glaze, dip the lower portion of the pot in water about 10 minutes before you are going to glaze it. Where the bisque is damp it will soak up less glaze. Use a less fluid stiffer glaze near the bottom to catch and put the brakes on the more fluid glaze(s). Callie Beller Diesel
A catch glaze could be another solution. If you put a band of a stiff blue or pink glaze at the bottom of the pot, it’ll slow the roll of the runny combo and blend in.
