Naaie
Hello potters, I am puzzled... I have an old Gare manual kiln. I fire bisque at 04 and glaze at cone 6. Both take about the same time, there is about a 1/2 hour difference between the bisque and glaze firing. I just find it odd that there would only be a 1/2 hour difference between the two... I guess I was expecting the glaze fire to be longer. I have test cones in my kiln, and they're not completely off, today's glaze fire seems to have a little overfired and the kiln turned off just before the 6 hour mark. What do you guys think? Min
How big is the kiln and what is your schedule for turning up the dials? Are your clay and glazes okay with the fast bisque firing?
High Bridge Pottery
My glaze firings have always been quicker than bisque. It would be weird if you are firing on exactly the same settings but I am guessing you turn up the glaze firing faster? Roberta12

Actually I realized after posting that with bisque fire, I leave to top open for the 1st 2 hours, which I don't with the glaze, so in that sense, it makes sense since I don't have the exact same "settings." Thanks for your response, it all makes sense.
