AutumnGrace
Hello, I have just bought a Potter Crafts kiln P5924 and the tops of the bricks are extremely damaged. At least 2 will need to be replaced. This is my first kiln and while I would like to be able to do essential maintenance myself I have no experience with this. Is it advisable to replace the bricks myself? I have done some research and it seems a fairly straightforward process but I am concerned that it just looks easy because the videos are made by experienced people and if I get it wrong I could end up causing more damage. Does anyone have any tips/advice on maintenance for this type of kiln? Many thanks, Autumn
oldlady
photos would be a big help. potterycrafts is from the UK and many of our best tech types are in the US. brickwork should be the same everywhere so photos are the best. show the metal jacket on your kiln and the way it is fastened tightly around the bricks. do you have several sections or just one metal jacket for the entire kiln? Babs
And when you have yoyr new bricks in, saw a bit of bIard or plywood same shape as top of your kiln to protect your bricks when losding and unloading shelves and pots into and out of your kiln. Chilly
As above, plus replacing top bricks is the easiest of all the jobs on a kiln. Ring Potterycrafts about replacement bricks. I had to do the same when I bought my 3rd hand kiln.
