Benser_creative
Hello, Does anyone know why this may be happening to my glazes. This is the second time it's happened. Both times at has been on mugs that had a drip glaze over the first color. Not sure if it's too thick? I have done several other pieces with a thick drip glaze on them and had no issues. The glazes are painted on glazes and are low fire. I appreciate the help and advise.
Morgan
Looks like it is very thick and is crawling. How thin are the pieces? Are you letting them dry well before firing?
Benser_creative
They are pretty average in thickness. I usually let them dry good before firing, but it is possible that the glaze wasn't dry enough yet being so thick. I'm still learning many elements to the clay game, only been at it just over a year and only had a kiln about 4 or 5 months. Something to think about, thanks for your thoughts. Babs
Wipe your pots with damp sponge just prior to glazing. Anybdust etc, oil from fingers will stop the adherence of glaze to pot. Crawling also caused by thick glaze application.

Roberta12
@Benser_creative Yep, what @Babs said. Any dust, oil from lotion, anything like that will cause crawling. And yes, your glaze does look like it had a thick application. What clay are you using?
Benser_creative
Hi Roberta, Thanks for the feedback, I am just using a lowfire white clay from a local ceramics shop. Never had a problem with it. I think everyone here has hit the nail on the head with it either being too thick or not dry enough. Thanks again. Babs
What cone are you firing your bisqye to? Could be that it is a bit low and so your pots absorb more water so more glaze deposited. If one glaze is too dry before applying other over it it can stuff up too.
