neilestrick Posted December 10, 2021 Report Share Posted December 10, 2021 If they're cordierite then no, you don't need to fire them. If they're silicon carbide I would fire them once. I've had those discolor the bottom of pots in their first firing. Probably depends on the brand, but better safe than sorry. @Mark C. do you fire your silicon carbide shelves before use? Mark C. Posted December 10, 2021 Report Share Posted December 10, 2021 I only use Advancer shelves and usually run them in a bisque with pots on them 1st to cone 08 then cone 10.
