Hulk
Hi Cynthia, Tony Hansen's article on Bentonite/MacaloidBentone MA (digitalfire.com) There are several threads on Bentonite/Macaloid on potters.org I'm seeing somewhat different descriptions of Macaloid on supplier sites - Aardvark, Ceramic Shop, Rocky Mountain Clay, Clay Planet Perhaps compare the chem components, choose, test? Min
For most glaze recipes using macaloid (aka Bentone MA) the whitest firing bentonite you can find can usually be subbed at twice the amount of macaloid called for. For the celadon recipe you are using there might be enough specks in the bentonite to be noticeable in the fired glaze but then again it might be fine. If you are going to the expense of using grolleg kaolin in the glaze recipe I would be inclined to use macaloid.
