RJS
I recently purchased some small plates by a local potter, and I didn't check to make sure all the plates had a flat bottom ... a couple don't, and so they wobble a bit when used. I'm not a potter, and I was hoping someone might offer suggestions for how to flatten out the bottom so they don't rock; for example, use a file? I of course don't want to crack the plates, and can live with the wobble, but would rather not. Thank you!
rox54
I don't claim to be a very knowledgeable potter, but I would probably try to level them using a diamond disk on my pottery wheel, if you have one. That has helped me in the past.

Min
I would contact the potter who made the plates and ask them to make it right. Refund or exchange or sand down the wobble with a diamond disc, whatever it takes. I know I wouldn't be happy knowing something flawed made it past my quality control and would want to rectify the problem. BTW - I took the liberty of moving your thread over to the Studio Operations and Making Work section.
Callie Beller Diesel
Levelling it is going to be a bit of a job. Definitely take it back to the potter for an exchange, or get them to do the job.
Mark C.
You may want to check to make sure its a flat surface-really flat -I had a plate come back and its was fine the table they used them on was not level.
