nickicherry
Hi all, I'm curious if anyone has any experience using waxes or any other materials as finishes on fired stoneware. I'd like to get a translucent, satin finish on top of my fired works. I tried applying clear paste wax to an unglazed work, but it seemed to just absorb all of the wax and had basically the same finish as the claybody without wax. (This was on Cone 6 fired Tucker's CCSS clay). I'm a newbie to ceramics, so I'm curious if there's other materials out there that would work well to get a waxy finish. Hulk
Hi Nicky! Am recalling similar question posed here... The burnishing allows the wax to build up some.
Russ
Maybe try a sealer first to seal the pores and then apply wax? A good water based grout sealer from Home depot or Lowes might work...
