Gail Wasserman
I bought a used Shimpo (RK2) which was made in the '70s. It runs but when I am centering more than about 5 lbs of clay the wheel head slows down. I am sure the motor should be able to handle much more weight. Any suggestions? Thanks! neilestrick
It could be that the drive wheel is slipping on the metal cone. That wheel is rubber, and can get hard over time and lose grip. It's also possible that something else is loose in there and slipping under the load. I'd first open it up and see if anything is obviously loose. I think @Pres had found a source for the drive wheels a while back.
liambesaw
You need a pedal adjustment. Instructions are on shimpos website under the rk2 manuals.
Stephen
wow constantly amazed at the life of this stuff. That's 50 years and likely a new part gets down the road another 10,

They don't run especially smooth or quiet compared to modern wheels, but they keep on truckin'.
