cambriapottery
Have others explored borax in your slip for application to greenware? I would like to use for texture to work. Is there a recommended percentage to start?

Bill Kielb
Borax is boron and sodium, water soluble. As Liam asks, do you believe it to be a texturing agent?
Min
Borax is an early melter so it helps bind the slip to the claybody. 5% is a standard amount but I would suggest using a high boron frit instead of borax as the latter is far more soluble. I know that over time if you use borax it will form little nodules in the slip that need to be screened out, remelted and mixed back in.
