OVMI_Designs
I have an old even fire 1820a kiln that I inherited. It has worked fine the past 2 years firing to cone 6 in about 8 hours. Recently the past 2 or 3 firings it has completely failed to reach cone 6. I have fired it over night and then come in the shop the next morning and turned the timer up. Even after a 20 hour fire it failed. This is run off a kiln sitter. I am out of cone 5 witness cones but the cone 4 was down and the cone 6 didn't move. I turned the kiln on today and let the coils heat up then turned the light off in the room to look at the glow of the coils. It seems like all couks are on, but parts of each coil were dark like they intermittently worked. Is it time to replace all the coils or could this be something else? liambesaw
Replace coils, i only say that because you inherited it and it's been working for 3 years. The parts of the coils lighting up means that electricity it making it out of the control box.

OVMI_Designs
I replaced the elements. The job wasn't too bad. It only took me about 1 1/2 hours. I fired the kiln, and it reach cone6 in about 7 hours with no issues. The glazed ware turned out great. I think it was my best firing to date!
