kraythe
Call me old fashioned or silly but I am interested in japanese syle kick pottery wheels and I was wondering where one could buy something like that already pre-made. There are plans on internet but I dont have the desire or carpentry skills to make one myself. Anyone have any sources? I have googled long but not found anyone in the USA that offers them. Joseph Fireborn
Simon Leach sells a type of wheel that is manually operated. I am not sure if it is exactly what you are searching for though.
Mark C.
My guess is you need to pay someone to make one for you. After you get the plans. Or go to Japan and ship one back or look for one over time(slow process)
Tyler Miller
I built mine in conjunction with a machine shop. 3/8” piece of square mild plate with 1” round bar stock welded to it. I cut the wooden parts and mounted bearings in the wheel head and kick wheel base. Took a weekend of labour and $200 CAD. One of those things you sortof have to make yourself. And sorta rightly so. It’s a very simple wheel.
Rex Johnson
If you don't have to have an actual Japanese style wheel, there are a lot of used Lockerbie kickwheels out there to be had. (see: Craigslist).
CHWat
I have one that I brought back from Japan many years ago - are you still looking?
