Gerstley Borate Subsitute

wondering what everyone is doing to compensate for the shortage of Gerstley Borate?  I've notice that it is one of the main ingredients in most glaze recipes. I'm just building up my studio and really don't want to become dependent on any material which may be in short supply.  Even now my supplier list GB as dependent upon availability.  oh I fire to Cone 6

I have been changing all of my recipes with GB to Boraq.  Have been pleased with the results and that was using Boraq 1.  Have yet to test using Boraq 2.

Good Luck with your discovery!

If you cannot find any you can drive by and I will give you a free bag-I still have most of a ton of it from long ago.

Not sure where you live ?

Mark

Lol Thanks Mark.  I would love to take you up on your offer.  Unfortunately I am on an island in  the middle of the Atlantic (Newfoundland Canada) and not close to anyone!

Thanks for all the responses,  I will start with Gillespie Borate and modify recipes for that.  Appreciate the Help!
