Diz
Decided to make some more slip and when I went to use my sodium silicate I found that it has 'set' in my jar, like jelly, but stiffer. I can poke holes in it but it is not at all 'liquidy'. Is there a way to breathe life back into it? Since I do not use it too often might there be a better choice for defloculation that has a longer shelf life? Once again I turn to the Forum Font of Knowledge ....THANKS! Mug
I would like to know of a way as well. I have always heard once it sets up you are out of luck. I would get a fresh batch. It's good to keep the lid clean and try to make sure it's sealed up well when it is in storage. I'm not sure what the shelf life is, but it will not stay stable for years. neilestrick
Toss it. Once it starts to harden it never works the same. It's cheap, so don't feel bad about replacing it.
Mark C.
The trick is not to let air get near it. Mark
Diz
I thought I had it in a tight lidded jar - obviously not. Glad it is cheap! Here I was hoping there was an easy way to rehab it. Gosh now I have another reason to head to Continental Clay! What a hardship that will be :>) . Thanks for the quick responses.
