Sallyd reacted to Troy Bungart for a gallery image, Pottery Trim Knives
These are some of the knives that I make out of a variety of exotic woods. Using functional tools that are attractive is important to me. I take extra care in shaping and sanding the edges of my tools so that they feel as good as they look.

Sallyd reacted to Troy Bungart for a gallery image, Platter rib with leaf design
This is my favorite rib to work on platter rims and large bowls. I enjoy this swirling leaf design. I have used this same design in bowl decorating in the past.

Sallyd reacted to rayaldridge for a gallery image, Yunomi with multiple slips
This is probably my favorite piece from the last firing. The yunomi was sprayed with a vitreous green slip and then a more refractory lavender slip. It was glazed in my current favorite glaze, a titanium satin matte. Somehow this treatment resulted in a soft gray with tiny flecks of many colors, green, blue, lavender... and with a mysterious pink flush on one side.

Sallyd reacted to rayaldridge for a gallery image, Three mise en place bowls
These three porcelain mise en place bowls are glazed with a clear deep blue and oversprayed with an active rutile glaze. I like these because they remind me a little of salt-glazed work.

Sallyd reacted to oldlady for a gallery image, platter with peaches
touching up color where too thin or where it disappeared in the firing. refired to cone 6 in a cool spot to avoid cracking.
cannot get the final glazed pot to post here. computer threw up its hands and screamed ENOUGH when i tried. i had only been trying for several hours. the whole thing froze up and nothing would work for over 25 minutes. it is now 12:58 am. good night all. tried again next day. got it to post in only an hour or so of fighting. final peaches is the name it is under.

Sallyd reacted to rayaldridge for a gallery image, Yunomi with combed blue and green slips
This yunomi was dipped in both green and blue slips and then quickly combed to expose both. It may be excessively bright, but I like it because it's lively. Same white satin glaze.
