Zola
Hi, I have a Contemporary Kiln portable gas kiln that I got with no manual. Anyone out there in pottery land have one of these? Contemporary Kiln was bought out by ThermCraft and they said they'd send me one for $200! It will be my first time firing a reduction kiln and I'd feel better doing it with some guidance. Thanks! Zola
It has 4 burners on the bottom. I was surprised I couldn't find anything online either. I'll be over there tomorrow and get some photos. Thanks! Patty
S. Dean
Here's a link to the Thermcraft website for contemporary kilns. Do any of these look like your kiln? http://www.thermcraftinc.com/contemporary-kiln.html
Mark C.
I saw this link when I looked on Google but it does not tell us anything about her kiln-what size(cubic feet) and type? Mark
Zola
I saw that, too - none of those are the kiln. When I gave the model & serial number to a guy at Thermcraft he couldn't find any information on it. Will post pics soon. Thanks! Patty

neilestrick
It's just like the Olympic updraft kilns. There has been a lot of discussion here on the forum about those over the last year. In general, they're difficult to fire evenly (top to bottom), but some people have tricks about how high to place the bottom shelf and a damper shelf at the top. Search the forum for 'updraft kiln' or 'olympic' or 'round gas kiln' and such and you'll find lots of info.
Mark C.
Is this set up for propane ? or Natural gas? One thing for certain is to move that boat gas can away when lighting this kiln up. do a search as Neil says as this is just an updraft like any Olympic kiln. My suggest is stack it with a shelve near the exit flue in lid to slow down the heat. good luck. Mark
