Marko
Does anyone have a liner glaze recipe that works well with Aardvark B Mix 5(no sand). I have been using a recipe called Naragon White. I am getting crazing. I am concerned because the mugs I am making are for a local coffee shop. EPK 8 Nepheline Syenite 31 Whiting 6 Gertsley Borate 26 Dolomite 4 Silica 25 100 Zircopax 12 Bentonite
Biglou13
If the glaze doesn't fit you must acquit Diid glaze work in the past? Did clay or glaze change recently. Did your firing schedule change? How are you doing quality control on kiln? eg. Witness cones...... If it's worked in past , I'd test to find out why it's not now working. Prolly not he answer you're looking for........ Other wise upping silica in glaze (starting @ 5% increments) may help..... But even that requires considerable testing. (It's much to early or is it late to get into. COE.)
Marcia Selsor
THIS IS ONE I USED IN REDUCTION.It works in Oxidation. I never use B-mix, but give it a test White Liner ^6 Reduction Ger. Marko
Thanks Biglou13, this is a new glaze for me and I should have done some testing. This is an operators mistake. I need to do some test. Thanks for your help.
Marko
Thank Marcia Selsor, I am going to try and adjust this Naragon recipe and do some testing. Which, I did not do the first time. My mistake. I guess it's true, haste makes waste.
Venicemud
I use Glossy Base Glaze 1 from Mastering Cone 6 Glazes on a clay body that does seem to give crazing with several other glazes. G200 20 Ferro Frit 3134 20 Wollastonite 10 EPK 20 Talc 11.5 Silica 18.5 To this I add: Bentonite 2 Carboxy Methyl Cellulose 1 Zircopax 10 I tend to make small batches (small studio and I'm addicted to testing glazes) and brush them on. The bentonite and CMC help make glazes brushable.
Marko
Thanks Venicemud, I will have to get into the addition mode or at least make more efforts to test glaze. I just made a test tile ring on my wheel. Found it on Pinterest. I believe I have Mastering Cone 6 Glazes. So I will look for this recipe.
David Woodin
Your liner maybe too high in C.O.E. You could try this one. Ferro 3134 15.7 Custer 17.5 EPK 18.9 Talc 9.2 Whiting 14.6 Silica 24.1 total 100 ziropax 5 Epsom salts

David Woodin
Sorry, it is Ferro frit 3134 David
Babs
Wonder if anyone knows which is the least expensive to make? Does yours settle in bucket David?
David Woodin
I usually add 1% epsom salts to the glaze. After a month or so it will start to settle but not rock hard, because of the clay content.
