MarleneK
We have a Paragon a88b kiln that needs a new pyrometer. Does anyone have suggestions on replacement parts? I’m a beginner with this, is this something that needs to be Paragon branded or can another type be used? Any advice on where to find a replacement? thanks all! Bill Kielb
A pyrometer is just something to measure temperature and display it. Many folks make them. Can you post a picture of the part you wish to replace in the event it is a kiln control.
MarleneK
Sorry for the long delay in responding. The kiln was purchased used and doesn’t have one I can photograph. I need the probe looking thermometer that goes in the side of the kiln and the thermocouple that displays temp. Does that help describe what we need for this kiln? neilestrick
So the kiln has manual controls, you're just looking for a pyrometer to track the temp as you fire, correct? Any type K pyrometer will work. The beefier the thermocouple the better, so don't get one of those off Amazon that has a very thin thermocouple. Look for the type that has a ceramic block that holds the thermocouple. There are several on Amazon that will work, or any of THESE on Clay-King.com are good options. Even the cheap ones work well, I've tried out several of them. You can either drill a hole through the kiln body for the thermocouple, or stick it in a spy hole and pack some fiber around it. oldlady
Marlene, the pyrometer you want to use is not a replacement. because so many brand new kiln owners read this forum, could you please re-title your question to say "using a pyrometer with a paragon A88B kiln"?
