Mark C. Posted January 20, 2022 Report Share Posted January 20, 2022 You can make your own plugs from soft brick (cut and sand them down to fit) or (clay and fire them). Just be carefull not to wear the soft brick openings by jambing something in. Also some ceramic fiber can be used. Not sure what fire plate is? oldlady Posted January 21, 2022 Report Share Posted January 21, 2022 a kiln shelf is too thin to safely be used as a peep hole plug. you can make one as a hollow clay taper that will work nicely. be sure to make it long enough for you to get a safe grip on the larger end. should not be hard to do but should be fired to the highest temperature you are planning to use for your normal work.
