GeorgiaKalla
Hi all! I am trying to make a small pizza oven out of raku clay. Any suggestions would be welcome, but especially any answers to: 1. How thick should the walls be? 2. Can I "self-fire" the oven by building a small fire inside instead of firing it in a kiln? I dont have my own kiln, and firing it locally could get pricey.
Dick White
Tell us more about how/where you intend to use this pizza oven. My son and I have built several clay bread ovens and your brief proposal leaves a lot of questions.

If you would, please share a description of a simple, smallish such oven (for electric kiln if possible). Just curious.

Googlefu bread outdoor clay oven and this is the first of several pages that come up. https://www.motherearthnews.com/diy/buliding-an-outdoor-oven-zm0z17amz These bread/pizza ovens are not electric, but involve setting a wood fire inside it to heat the adobe dome so that the residual heat will bake the bread or pizza. Good old Mother Earth --hippie nostalgia. Thx. I know I could have Googled it, but I get so tired of it sometimes, seriously! But grateful it provides so much info so easily--that & Wikipedia.
