VladCruceanu
First you need to know that this is my first time using a slip trailer. Please find attached the model that I have. The issue is that the slip is not flowing well or even not at all, especially with the smallest heads. One head is blocked. I am using a mixer to make the slip out of water and clay. If I am going for very thin slip, it flows but it is a bad mix, not slip, it is water. I used 2 types of clay, both with grog, larger and smaller particles. What am I doing wrong? neilestrick
The grog is the problem. Sieve the slip through an 80 mesh screen and see if that helps. If it's still too chunky, go to a 120 mesh. Or use a smooth clay body to start with.
VladCruceanu
Many thanks for your help. I will sieve it, hopefully, I have the right mesh screen in my house.
Callie Beller Diesel
I also find with the smaller tips, you have to keep working, or they dry out and clog. If you have to set the bulb down in between pieces, I will put a sewing pin (the kind with the plastic ball on top) in the tip to prevent drying. Also, it's a good idea just to keep a dish of water and a cleaning brush handy while you're working.
Chilly
Would using less water and replacing it with darvan/sodium dispex make the slip runnier without actually making it wetter?
VladCruceanu
I have used a 120 mesh and now it works excellent. Thank you all for your help.
