^5 clay
Hello ceramists and potters I was wondering how to make slip using the^5 clay I use, I did make a creamy mix but I am wondering if I need to add any chemical to it, any feedback is greatly appreciated . liambesaw
You adjust the viscosity with flocculants and deflocculants. If you like it the way it is, and it sticks to your pots, no need to add anything.
oldlady
let it evaporate if you want it thicker. the clay you use is the best thing to use for slip. just water is enough to make it work, you have to decide how thick you want it. evaporation and letting it settle so you can remove excess water with an ear syringe is enough. sieve it just to remove anything that might be mixed in. last time i sieved silp i found cat hair. Min
@^5 clay, what kind of slip are you making? Casting slip, thick slip for texture, or .....?
