  1. trying out my rebuilt little Paragon kiln to cone 6 today. I usually just use it to bisque but the electrician said it can go to 6 but the elements won't last as long. I wonder what that means exactly....

      I have been firing to cone 6 in rebuilt kilns for 30 years and haven't noticed and excessive element wear. I did accidently fire my test kiln to C10 and noticed a shorter life with those elements. Denice

      sounds good. its off now so I'll get to see how it worked out later tomorrow...

      my test kiln has fired loads of ^6 firings and I still have my backup elements standing by. I have replace the switch in 20+ years. The higher firing do wear out the elements faster. Something like 564 bisque firings or 378 higher firings > Those are random but ball park figures.
