All kinds of ceramic related stuff
Images added to a gallery album owned by hitchmss in Browse Member Galleries
Just like the title says, this is an album with a hodge podge collection of images from the last 10 or so years of my ceramics career to give you a taste of my work. -

A firebox of the kiln before rebuilding; the refractory mortar which I was informed that would make a good skim coat, does not. Notice the bubbling and flaking. -

test "tiles" for copper reds. Tested around 40 different recipes; numerous tiles for each glaze for different locations of kiln. -

One of the finalists of the copper red tests. -

Another good contender from the copper red tests. -

I knew when I looked at the recipe that this didnt sound like a red glaze, but I tried it out anyways. Really enjoy the breaking action when the glaze is JUST the right thickness. -

The 5 finalists from the 40 glaze tests of the copper reds. Out of all of them, I went back to using a glaze from my college days, a variant of Pete Pinnel's red; the most stable of all the reds, and no barium either! -

One of three "big" pots from a couple years back, this one, not quite as big as the others, about 40" high, fired out beautifully, but died a tragic death when I accidentily bumped into it in the studio and knocked it over. -

The copper red test firing, and some of my normal oxidation glazes in there too. -

The biggest of the 3 "big" pots from a couple years back. Height was JUST at the arch; 48", by I believe 30" -

The slip motion was good this day! -

When you think you'd never blow up pots of your own ever again.... -

Love those TINY necks; loaded this into the bisque and the rim was JUST far enough from underside of lid. Turns out it wasnt; pot expanded, and broke the mouth/neck. Darn Shame -

The gas kiln, after its first rebuild; we used already owned, used bricks from an old soda kilns cold face, and some "new" seconds. This rebuild lasted another year, about 80 more firings before it needed to be built with good, new brick. -

The door of the "used brick" rebuild. Some of the IFBs got soda vapor in them, even though they were the cold face of an old kiln. They didnt last long because of this.
