Front of the shop; garage entrance on the left, main work area on the right side. White bundles are polyiso insulation.
  2. From the album: New studio build

First side of the building to get metal siding installed. No interior wall framing yet.
  3. From the album: New studio build

Side of shop which faces the creek/woods. The closest 3 windows are my main work room, farthest window is the kiln room, and in between- glazing room.
  4. From the album: New studio build

Side of the shop which faces the road; also has my access road to get to the back of the shop more easily. Window goes into packing room. Nearest front 1/2 of this side of the building is the garage area.
  5. From the album: New studio build

Inside of the garage area; opening to the right is an 8x8' overhead insulated door leading into main work room. Double doors ahead head into packing room. Ceiling height is 13' in this room and finished with old barn metal.
  6. From the album: New studio build

Structural "shell" framing completed and ready for metal siding. Roof was completed before concrete was laid down.

Aside from the pooch; this is the underslab insulation for the radiant floor heat. Notice the stub ups for electrical and water as well as the thermal breaks between climatized and non spaces.
  8. From the album: New studio build

Concrete day. Notice the PEX tubing for the radiant floor heat, zip tied to the remesh which is secured to the EPS foam.
  9. From the album: New studio build

The under slab plumbing for my main work area sinks and two trench drains for cleaning. Prior to insulation.
  10. From the album: New studio build

Ripping sheets of EPS foam to make thermal breaks for the perimeter of the building against the grade boards.
  11. From the album: New studio build

The 3' "drop" ceilings we added to the bottom of the trusses. This brought the finished ceiling height down to 10', but more importantly gave us room to install 2' of cellulose fiber in the attic and not be blocking the vented soffits or have issues with wind drifting.
  12. From the album: New studio build

Laying down large stone to build up the numerous below slab elevations we needed.
  13. From the album: New studio build

Pole barns go up fast; this is the end of day 5 of the entire build. Note the two ceiling elevations. The manufacturer was able to build in the final ceiling elevation on a few of our trusses but not all; the rest had to be customized on site.
