  1. I opened up a bag of clay that I mixed, pugged, and wrapped over a year ago...I am more convinced than ever that age improves throwing (at least for the clay...hopefully for the maker).

      Roberta, I don't always let freshly mixed clay 'rest', but it seems to help the water content to become more homogeneous.

      Paul, I age all of my clay, but then freezing it in the Winter kills any bacteria/mold that may have started. Later though it is just fine. Aging does improve the clay.. immensely to me!

      Good to know. I had a couple of bags of clay in the garage that I had forgotten about during our 30 below season. They froze solid. While thawing out, they have gotten mushy. I just keep flipping the bags over and I will rewedge them at some point. Is that proper procedure?
