Does Temperature Of Clay Matter When Throwing?

Recommended Posts

I've seen some previously frozen clay that had fractured. If I wedge it does it go back to normal?

My clay freezes every winter. I wedge it up (after it's thawed, of course) and it's fine for my purposes, but I know people who pug it if it has frozen/thawed.

if clay is fresh out of the bag and harder than you like, put it back in the bag and drop it onto a hard floor a few times.  it should soften up nicely.  if you are going to put it through a slab roller, slap a fat slice of it onto the floor (canvas target helps keep it clean) and turn it over to slap it down again.  it should stretch and soften so you get a nice slab the first time.
