nancylee
Hi all, I am looking for some northeast shows to do this spring/summer. I am on a sabbatical from work, and would like to try the craft fair circuit! I did antique shows about 10 years back, but my pottery is much less expensive, so I don't know how it would compare. I am willing to find out. I do functional pottery. Simple stuff. Bowls, mugs, hand built plates, wind chimes, ornaments. Mostly usable or fun stuff. Nothing "serious art." I live up near Canada, but would be willing to travel as far south as Maryland. I have applied to a few shows already: Berkshires Art Festival, Central PA Festival of the Arts, Sugarloaf Crafts Festivals, thinking about Syracuse. I got in that show last year with my jewelry, but didn't go, and was wondering if anyone had experience with it for pottery? I would appreciate any experience you have! I attached the type of work I would be bringing to the show. Thanks, Nancy

GEP
I also recommend you look into Paragon Art Events (http://paragonartevents.com). They run quality shows up and down the east coast, plus texas. But really, the best way to choose shows that are a good fit is to visit them in person, and see them with your own eyes. I would stick to local shows for your first year, while also taking road trips to visit the further ones in person. Choose carefully and start investing in road shows in 2015. Pres
Central PA is a tough one to get into. they used to get over 1000 apps for 300 or so spaces. It is well attended as it is alumni weekend, but as I said tough. There is also the Peoples Choice show in Bolesburg the same weekend about 5 miles from Penn State. Still difficult, but not so much. nancylee
Thanks, Pres!! That is one I applied to, so we shall see. I doubt I will get in. I have simple, functional pottery, electric fired. Nothing fancy or complicated.
