nancylee
Here are some of the colors I got at Cone 6, which surprised me, because they are so bright! Question: I am now working with earthenware, which I will coat with a low fire majolica whitish glaze, and then underglaze. Can I put the majolica on greenware, or does it have to be bisqued? Thanks, Nancy

neilestrick
Don't use underglazes on the Majolica base. Underglazes do not melt like a glaze, and will remain dry and rough.
justanassembler
Don't use underglazes on the Majolica base. Underglazes do not melt like a glaze, and will remain dry and rough. Actually, per Linda Arbuckle (and some confirmed in my own testing...) "Some AMACO Velvet underglazes work for decorating on top of majolica base glaze: Mist Grey, Jet Black, Rose, Maroon, Leaf Green and 350 Orange, Amethyst, Violet, Real Orange, Lt. Red, Red. Too refractory to use: Electric Blue, Pearl Grey, Ivory, Hunter Green, Deep Yellow, Straw, Lt. & Med. Pink . Test others."
nancylee
So what do you use? Clear glazes with Mason stains?
