Laurarose
Would any glaze other than clear allow a blue underglaze to show through? I added texture to a slab and then used blue underglazed and wiped some off to highlight the texture. Thanks.
justanassembler
translucent glazes will show what is under them to varying degrees--testing is the only way to be sure.
neilestrick
Cobalt is pretty strong stuff. The blue may show through light colored opaque glazes, too. Test, test, test.....

In many cases I use a white over blue, and it shows through. Since these things are chancy doing test tiles is always the best solution as you may be using a color not as strong your clay may be different and your glazes over top different from what others may use. Marcia Selsor
http://ceramicartsdaily.org/community/index.php?app=gallery&module=images§ion=viewimage&img=2224 The above is a cone 6 translucent Matt glaze over a black underglaze with Mason stain. It is shellac carved prior to bisque. You will have to test glazes to see if they will work with your underglazes. Marcia
