Glazed buttons in bisque firing

ABG

Recommended Posts

I am putting together a small kiln (10" x 14" x 6")  for firing stamps and small tiles (1" x 1").  It's just a rolled steel cage, lined with ceramic fiber.   My intent is to fasten the fiber blanket to the cage using nichrome wire with ceramic buttons on the interior.   But I just realized that the buttons that I have are glazed and my mind is spinning for options.  Pretty sure that I cannot use those in bisque temps.  Right?

Never heard of glazed buttons? They always are unglazed

I did post on homemade  buttons-use the search function on main page.

They are actually buttons - made to be put on clothing.  Have some sort of turquoise glaze.  I could have sworn that I still had some unglazed ones.  Probably in a box somewhere safe. :-/
